We need POWERFUL preachers. “Testifying,” means to give out tru th th a t has been tested in one’s own life. He did not, like so many preachers, preach th e Gospel as a man would call out his wares on the street. He testi­ fied from v ital experience w ith the Holy Ghost. 3. We need PROFITABLE preach­ ers. “K ept back nothing th a t was prof­ itab le.” He studied to give a message th a t would make his h earers w iser and better. Many preachers today preach th a t which is perfectly harm less, bu t yet does no one any definite and lasting sp iritu al good. , Too many are preach­ ing m erely to please. O th a t more would study to profit th e ir hearers, as only those who preach th e Word of God. 4. We need PUBLIC preachers— “ publicly.” He did no t confine his message w ithin temple walls bu t tau g h t th e Word wherever he could get the atten tion of a crowd. How many th ere are who feel th e ir duty is discharged when they have read th e ir sermon from th e pulpit on Sunday. 5. We need PRIVATE preachers, “ from house to house.” He did not cease to ta lk about th e Scriptures when he was th rough w ith th e public sermon, bu t w ent into the homes to discuss w ith th e people and explain fu rth e r to them , th e tru th s he had publicly taugh t. 6. We need PERSISTENT preach­ ers. “ k ep t back noth ing .” No m atter how he was m isunderstood and talked about, he persisted in declaring the whole tru th . 2 Tim. 4:2. 7. We need POINTED preachers-— “ repentance and faith ,” not philosophy and politics and social reform . He hammered continually th e two g reat fundam ental Gospel tru th s th a t he m ight g et men to look tow ard God w ith sorrow for sin and tow ard Christ for th e ir righteousness. —K. L. B.

Our church is supporting two m issionaries— one in China and one in India. Our prayer meetings have increased in in te rest as we h ear these le tte rs read from miss­ ionaries telling of th e ir w orkv Truly, the lig h t th a t shines farth est, shines b righ test a t home. How can I help bu t to encourage m issions when it has tu rn ed our church from a formal society ice-box into a church of b ro th ­ erly love and m issionary activity?
