Marketing 360 is an approach to creating a comprehensive plan designed to fuel your business online and offline. Melissa McClain highlighted the essential levels of the marketing and featured franchisees’ vendor success stories along the way. Following the owner videos, each session discussed recommendations regarding marketing investments, best practices and targeted marketing. Home Improvement Fundamentals Kevin Busch taught an introductory course to present the fundamentals for successful home improvement projects between $3,000 and $10,000. The following topics were covered: Preparing your business, owner involvement, key concepts, and next steps for tackling this important business segment. This information was intended for owners who have maximized core time and materials in their business and who are considering these larger projects. Home Improvement- Best Practices This Home Improvement Best Practices session was a continuation of the Home Improvement Fundamentals session. Kevin Busch moderated discussions from experienced owners in this realm on estimate vs. fixed pricing, contracts, managing tasks ranging from pre- construction meetings to materials and including sub- contractors compared to using technicians. Using ServiceTitan Properly This workshop focused on helping owners understand and utilize ServiceTitan’s standardized workflows: Standard Job, On Site Estimate (sold by tech), On Site Estimate (Sold by office), Utilizing Projects, Adding Subcontractors and Batch/ Post/Export. Each of the above workflows have a review slide outlining key takeaways from the presentation. Owners left the session with the call to action to evaluate and train your staff to ensure they are utilizing the system properly and getting the most out of ServiceTitan. ServiceTitan Reporting An overview of available ServiceTitan Reporting was presented by Kevin Busch to help owners utilize the information to help run their businesses even more effectively. A deep dive into the most frequently used reports was the focus and included the Technician Sales Detail, Royalty Summary Report, Sales Detail Report and real-time Technician Live Board to name a few. ServiceTitan Migration Process This introductory session led by Jeff Paley and Rita Ross was hosted for owners who had not yet migrated to ServiceTitan. They shared the steps to migrate from ToolBox to ServiceTitan including: where and how to get

to the training documents, how the importing will take place, getting signed up for QuickBooks Online and integrating (phone lines, credit card processing and GPS system). If you missed it, their presentation is on Team Site . Designing with the Future in Mind: Universal Design Platform Wanda Gozdz, CAPS, ASID, Allied shared that there will be approximately 78 million Baby Boomers age 65+ by 2025 according to the U.S. Census Bureau. There are opportunities for Mr. Handyman owners to help accommodate the changing needs of this population, which is rapidly aging at the same time. The aging in place workshop featured challenges Mr. Handyman owners may face with requests for repairs or maintenance services to help seniors age in place. Wanda shared ways owners can help to promote a safe and independent or inter-dependent lifestyle for aging homeowners. She also shared how Mr. Handyman franchisees can become a certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). CAPS Campfire Wanda Gozdz, CAPS, ASID, Allied instructed owners with CAPS designation on their next business steps. She asked if owners have promoted their expertise as an Aging-in-Place specialist. She also facilitated a discussion around best practices, and what owners can learn from each other. She also shared expert information from the annual 2017 IBS conference as it relates to this revenue stream and business focus. Business Planning Joel Welsh outlined the new Business Planning Tool, which was customized for a Mr. Handyman business while including the fundamentals of building a business plan. The tool includes financial assumptions and the ability to tweak the numbers to show how changes in those assumptions will impact profitability and cash flow. It also includes a 10-year financial pro forma, although three years of future projection is typically the limit of reasonable reliability. This session was designed for franchisees who are looking to get started in business planning. Successful Succession: Keeping the End in Mind Dwyer Group® Chief Operating Officer Mary Kennedy Thompson led a workshop centralized around helping owners plan their eventual exit strategy from the Mr. Handyman system through succession planning. She presented steps to begin the planning process and how to protect franchisees’ wealth. This type of planning is full of tough decisions yet it is imperative for business owners to protect their families and employees.
