Policy Management and Safety Unit Policy Management and Safety is responsible for assisting the command staff with policy decisions and researching, developing, and distributing the General Orders and Special Orders. Policy Management is also responsible for the administration, development, and maintenance of the document management system for all policies and procedures (PowerDMS) and assuring compliance with policies and procedures, applicable local, state, and federal laws, in addition to any other sanctioned entities. Policy Management monitors and maintains the police department website email while coordinating all notifications, programs, information, and instructions for the department health and safety program, including but not limited to, infectious disease or chemical exposures; developing safety plans; and coordinating the employee safety program, including training, investigation, and recommendations for situations impacting the safety of all employees.
Policy Management and Safety Unit obtain accreditation through the Texas Police Chief’s Association Best Practices Recognition Program. Continue to conduct research to advance the department with innovative programs and policies in support of law enforcement. Continue to provide comprehensive support services to the Chief, Executive Staff, and department personnel in the areas of policy development and employee safety by communicating responsively with accurate and timely information. Continue the process to provide educational seminars and materials to both sworn and non-sworn personnel so department staff remain up-to-date on new departmental policies, procedures and safety issues.
