About the Scholarship Lucy Rose Johns established this scholarship as a memorial to her grandmother who only had a 7th-grade education but taught her more than anyone. When Lucy was in college, she couldn’t travel abroad because of financial concerns. Since then, Lucy has studied abroad several times and would like to enable a current student to participate because she believes broadening one’s horizons through travel is pure education. in the UK and Ireland, where she will attend the International Federation of Home Economics. Maya is a family and consumer sciences major who aspires to teach culinary skills to middle school or high school students. She is the conference coordinator for the Stevens Point Association of Family and Consumer Sciences and the secretary of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. Maya is studying abroad this summer
