Sentry Insurance Sue Wilcox Legacy Scholarship GABRIELLA VECELLIO

About the Scholarship For 33 years Sue Wilcox worked for the United Way of Portage County, a non-profit organization committed to serving the most vulnerable individuals and families in Portage County. Sue started her work with the United Way as a volunteer serving on the Fund Distribution Committee in 1987 while still a student at UWSP. She became the Director of Planning and Allocations in 1989 and later the Executive Director in 1998. Her work was always to encourage the contributions of time, talent, and treasure on behalf of those most in need. Because of the generous spirit and kindness of Portage County residents, Sue has been grateful to call this wonderful community home. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their commitment to their community and campus involvement. presented at the HOSA – Future Health Professionals Conference of Wisconsin and area high schools about the family and consumer sciences major career options. Gabriella is a family and consumer sciences major, minoring in business administration and youth programming. As president of the Child Life Specialist Association student organization, she organized the Teddy Bear Clinic program at the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum, which taught children about medical play and how to reduce anxiety when visiting the doctor.
