TESSA WHEAT Sentry Insurance Sue Wilcox Legacy Scholarship

About the Scholarship For 33 years Sue Wilcox worked for the United Way of Portage County, a non-profit organization committed to serving the most vulnerable individuals and families in Portage County. Sue started her work with the United Way as a volunteer serving on the Fund Distribution Committee in 1987 while still a student at UWSP. She became the Director of Planning and Allocations in 1989 and later the Executive Director in 1998. Her work was always to encourage the contributions of time, talent, and treasure on behalf of those most in need. Because of the generous spirit and kindness of Portage County residents, Sue has been grateful to call this wonderful community home. Recipients of this scholarship are recognized for their commitment to their community and campus involvement. Hospital and is a reading teacher’s assistant for UWSP’s Tutoring and Learning Center. Tessa is a member of the Child Life Association of Stevens Point and has volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House. Her goal is to become a certified child life specialist and work for a children’s hospital to support children and families through stressful medical experiences. Tessa is a family and consumer sciences major and is minoring in youth programming. She works as a childcare provider for the Marshfield Children’s
