Gracelyn, 10 Monongalia County

ROUND 3

She gives 110 percent in everything she does. She is a wonderful young lady both in and out of the classroom. She loves school. She is an amazing friend to her peers. She is responsible and extremely respectful. Distance learning has been difficult for her, because she loves going to school. She is missing her teachers, classmates, and the school in general. I am her teacher and she emails me often just to see how my day was. She is very thoughtful.

Ollie, 11 Tucker County

He started a social distancing lemonade stand. Every week he makes a new drink that his parents sell at their business— TipTop—for him. People can buy his drink- of-the-week when they pick up their wine, beer, and supper club orders. His special drinks are available every Friday from 2 to 6 p.m. in Thomas and every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m in Elkins.

Bethany, 11 Wyoming County

Bethany was diagnosed at age 5 with type 1 diabetes but refuses to let that slow her down. Last summer she auditioned and was chosen to play the lead role in Annie for Theatre West Virginia in Grandview. Life for anyone with type 1 diabetes is challeng- ing, but it’s especially challeng- ing for a child. Bethany faced daily practices, learning lots

Jayden, 11, and his brother Tristen, 7, are always helping their older neighbors. They don’t even need prompting. They just grab the trash, or get their mail, or offer help from a distance. They have several older neighbors, one is even 91, and these two are always trying to make sure she is ok, specifically over the last few months. They can’t be close to these ladies, but they can help from a distance.
