Elizabeth, 16 Kanawha County

Elizabeth in 24 hours raised a third of her $1,000 goal to support service workers in our community through Better Together CWV—an organization raising funds to assist unemployed workers in the hospitality industry. By helping working families, the organiza- tion will strengthen neighborhoods, small businesses, and cities in the weeks ahead.

Aiden, 16, Clay County, is the executive director of the Clay County Community Emergency Response Team. He has been trained in administering naloxone, active shooter response, sports medicine, first aid, bullying prevention, lit- ter control, and developing and managing volunteers. Aiden and his response team partnered with the West Virginia Mask Army to distribute more than 1,000 masks to first- responders, doctors, essential business workers, and also residents. The team also distributed hand sanitizer and cleaning supplies to small businesses. Aiden and his team have also developed a response line for the elderly allowing them to call and request services, such as meal delivery or prescription pickups. Aiden is an inspiration to all.

Ryker, 10 Marion County

He has a heart of gold, and he loves his dogs—Daisy and Dash—and his cat, Violet. He also loves to play baseball and basketball. Ryker loves his friends and family and treats everyone kindly. He goes to church with his grand- mother and that’s the best thing in the world, she says. Ryker also makes good grades.
