Fashion search engine Tagwalk scanned more than 11,000 images from spring/summer 2024 fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, and subsequently tagged 46 per cent more looks with the “minimalism” tag than was the case last year. The scramble for pieces sporting visible, large brand logo-tags and details was down 52 per cent, while demand for ‘90s-tagged looks was up 42 per cent – and it was actually ‘90s fashion that represented the most frequently searched tag. The ‘quiet luxury’ trend that was launched like a landslide by TV series Succession is now shifting towards something that’s strongly reminiscent of ‘90s-New-York elegance. Even the creative prince of Provençal joviality that is Si- mon Porte Jacquemus succumbed to this newfound ascetic aesthetic, presenting his most minimalistic collection to date in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. These were all bullet points for analysing the fash- ion industry’s current climate, while as a definitive answer to the question of what we’ll be wearing in spring, we can say with certainty that these are piec- es that you surely already own – and that you’ll use clever styling to adapt to the trend pulse.
