Mayor Leroux’s Russell Township resolutions

Santé et bien-être sont parmi les préoc- cupations du maire François St-Amour au début de cette nouvelle année, avec davantage de programmes de santé pour lui et pour les citoyens de la municipalité de La Nation. Le développement économique et les loisirs sont des dossiers présentant un inté- rêt particulier, dit le maire St-Amour, alors qu’il profitait du week-end du jour de l’An, avant la reprise des affaires municipales cette semaine. « Ce sont les deux plus importants élé- ments,» a-t-il dit, ajoutant que l›approbation finale du budget plus tard cemois-ci est aussi un objectif. C›est presque fini. » Une fois le budget signé, lemaire veut se lancer dans la planification de l›expansion et l›amélioration des infrastructures de loisirs dans le Village de Limoges. of Notre-Dame Street may also benefit from some improvement proposals. “We’re going to be looking at possibly servicing that as well,” Leroux said. On the community recreation side, Mayor Leroux would like to see a start towards reha- bilitation work on the New York Central Fitness Trail. He also hopes to see formal approval from council on the proposed Sports Dome project for the municipality, once administration presents its findings on possible construction costs for such a facility, depending on what kind of sports and recreation amenities and services it provides. Last month, council gave formal support for administration to look into the feasibility of such a facility. “There will be some public consultations,”
Leroux said, noting that the Russell KinClub, the original proponent of the Sports Dome project, has offered its help with gathering feedback on what township residents would like to see in the facility. “Those are the big ones,” Mayor Leroux said, regarding his resolutions for the township. For himself as mayor, he is re- newing a past resolution from a year ago. “Continuing my (civic) education,” he said. Last year he completed a course study in parliamentary procedure, covering such items as Robert’s Rules of Order.
