ATC ‘22 ARBORPALOOZA: EXPLORING THE WIDE WORLD OF TREES

This program provides an overview of wildland fire behavior and proactive steps arborists can take to help better prepare their communities for wildfire. Recent cat - astrophic fires illustrated that home-hardening and vegetation management within the home-ignition zone could prove to be effective at limiting structure ignition during fires. Wildfire behavior, fuel types, and findings from recent wildfires will be discussed and related to potential fire mitigation strategies for arborists.

Michael Beaudoin is an ISA Certified Arborist and is TRAQ quali - fied. He currently works as a consulting utility arborist throughout the Sierra Nevada communities of California. Before relocating back to California, Michael managed urban and community for - estry assistance programs in Idaho and Nevada. Before starting his career in arboriculture, he served as the executive director of a regional fire safety council in California and helped establish the state-wide Nevada Fire Adapted Partnership network. Michael

earned his MA in environmental history from Boise State University and his MS in Natural Resources and Environmental Science from the University of Illinois where he studied wildfire policy and focused on landscaping and the flammability of Cal - ifornia native trees and shrubs.
