of those perks is seeing every nook and cranny of people’s homes. While I see beau- tifully decorated spaces, and out-of-this-world homes, I also see many attempts by homeown- ers who are working hard to bring their vision to life but are not happy with the finished product. We all just want our space to look amazing, but without a solid footing when it comes to the set up, it can be very difficult to achieve the look you want. The foundation of a beautiful looking room is a design plan. This doesn’t have to be elabo- rate, but with a good plan of what you want to achieve, you can’t go wrong. Remember, it’s your space! Make it a space you love! You can have all the right items in there, but with the wrong framework your wow factor is dead in the water. A good test for your set-up skills is the living room. It’s one of the main areas in the home and it can either make a lasting impression or leave you uninspired. Let’s use that as our test room and pinpoint all the important elements. Focusing on the living room, here is a quick list of what to zero in on for room design. Focal Point Every room needs a focal point. The area that will first catch your eye when you enter the room. Sometimes we are lucky enough for this to be an architectural masterpiece. A fireplace wall, a mantle, a ceiling beam, an uncovered original brick wall… you get the picture. Those perfect focal points that just show up out of nowhere on the home reno shows! Often, we must create our own masterpiece. What are some qualities of a focal point that will draw the eye? Bold, bright, big, or beautiful! You get to decide what people will feast their eyes on in your living room. This area doesn’t need to be busy, but it needs to have at least one characteristic that gives it the wow factor. So, what do you choose? Well, ask
