If you still cannot find the answer to your query, you can always contact personnel at the Secretariat for advice, drawing on their years of experience in the forwarding industry. Technical information is also disseminated to Members through the other areas of Member benefits: events, training and communications. To get the greatest value from your membership subscription ensure that your organisation has nominated a BIFA administrator to add, remove and update contacts in the BIFA Member portal. The BIFA STC were introduced in 1988 and have undergone a number of revisions to keep them up-to-date and relevant in an ever-changing environment. During 2025 they were subjected to the most detailed examination, review and re-write in their history and the new 2025 version was issued to Members ahead of the 31 December implementation. If you have not yet incorporated the BIFA STC 2025 edition into your contracts with customers, you are advised to do so as soon as possible. Information on this process is available at BIFA STC2025. Would you like to influence policy and contribute to government decision-making? Members are encouraged to engage with BIFA through the regular regional meetings held in many locations which provide a pathway for Member employees to represent their local region on the BIFA Council or join a special interest policy group, working group or advisory body. Discussions at these various meetings are formulated into policies that steer BIFA’s interaction with government and other bodies

These are reflected in the Member benefits which can be classified as policy, events, training and communications. This month we will take a closer look at the Member benefits in the policy category. Policy Benefits listed under the policy heading include the BIFA STC, representation to government and various agencies, and the provision of advice and guidance on technical matters.
