BIFA set to speak about professional standards On Day 2 of Multimodal 2026, BIFA’s policy, compliance and external affairs director, Pawel Jarza, will be a participant in one of the conference sessions in the Rover Theatre. Under the heading, ‘Why we must act now to raise professional standards in the UK supply chain’, the panel will examine why urgent action is needed to raise professional standards across the UK supply chain and customs sector. Post-Brexit trade Starting at 10:30 and hosted by the Chartered Institute of Export & International Trade, the session will draw on BIFA’s experience representing freight forwarders and customs intermediaries, and explore standards, compliance and the growing role of trusted supply chain partners in supporting UK trade post-Brexit. Since the UK left the European Union, customs specialists and supply chain professionals have become increasingly vital in helping traders navigate complex border procedures and compliance requirements. Reliability issues However, following extensive consultation with industry, the UK government found that many businesses struggled to assess the reliability and expertise of service providers operating in the sector. Pawel will discuss whether clearer standards, accreditation and professional recognition could strengthen confidence in customs intermediaries and ultimately support more UK businesses to trade internationally.
