Learning in the Life Skills Room Over the year,
Out and about in the community
Our children are often out and about, practicing life skills to help with their independence. This could be ordering in a café, checking out their own library books and retuning books, creating shopping lists and looking for
children have been using the Life Skills Room to cook, prepare snacks and learn how to use a
washing machine. We are lucky to have such a great resource to help our children learn some essential life skills to help them live more independently.

We encourage reading for pleasure here at Maple View and this is why our weekly library visit run by our therapy team continues to be a huge success …

Finally, one of the activities we do a lot to promote life skills is Plan, Shop Cook, where children go out to buy ingredients to make something they want to eat in the Life Skills Room!
