The 2019 European Flexographic Industry Associa- tion (EFIA) Print Awards were held at the Concorde Conference Centre in Manchester, England. Companies that picked up awards included Contact Originators, Parkside, Hamilton Labels and Coveris. Leading the winners were DS Smith and Smurfit Kap- pa who both took home a haul of 13 accolades, with Interflex picking up a total of 6 awards. For the third year in a row,Amcor Flexibles Cumbria, was the overall winner of the event, winning Best in Show for its Kellogg’s Extra Chocolate Muesli pack; Coveris claimed second place in the category,with DS Smith finishing third. Supplier of the Year was handed to Sandon Global who has now successfully won the award, based on an EFIA membership vote, every year since 2015. In its inaugural year, the Environmental and Sustainabili- ty award was handed to Earth Inks and Smurfit Kappa for their work in creating a Huggies baby wipes pack. Emmerson Packaging Management Recognized For the tenth year in a row, Amherst, Nova Scotia’s Emmerson Packaging has been recognized as one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. Emmerson Pack- aging’s second plant is located in Belleville, Ontario. The family-owned company has been supplying flex- ible packaging solutions for more than 60 years. Founded as PolyCello Bag Ltd. in 1956 by Philip Em- merson, the firm started as a paper distribution busi- ness before turning to flexible packaging. Emmerson Packaging currently offers mono- and co-extruded films and laminates, flexographic printing, and a range of pre-press, printing, distribution, and marketing ser- vices to clients. Kodak Completes Sale Flexo Division To Montagu Kodak Company and Montagu Private Equity LLP have completed the sale of Kodak’s Flexographic Pack- aging Division (FPD). Now part of Montagu’s portfolio, the division operates as a standalone company known as Miraclon. As previously announced, Kodak’s flexog- raphic leadership team has transitioned as part of the deal and will continue to directly manage this business. Proceeds at close were approximately $320 million, which included the gross purchase price of $340 mil- lion less agreed indebtedness,other items,and delayed proceeds related to a deferred close entity.
