to be saved?” (Acts 16:30), Christ was presented by Paul who said, “ Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16:31). The jailor was immediately saved, even as the white magnet has taken the nail away from the black magnet. Satan is powerful, but Christ is all powerful. Greater is He that is for us then they that are against us, and we may confidently say, with the Psalmist, “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” Feb. 26, 1950 C orrecting C o rru pt C o r in t h Objects: An electric extension cord, a light bulb and a black handbag. (At tach one end of the cord to an electric light socket, putting the other end with the lighted bulb into the handbag.) Lesson: This cord reminds me of the Apostle Paul and those who labored with him in the city of Corinth. “ After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth” (Acts 18:1). You are wondering how this common-looking cord can be like Paul, but wait and you shall see. . Let us follow the cord and see where it leads. It goes inside this black hand bag. Why is it going there? See! This black handbag is filled with light because the electric cord has carried the light to it. Corinth was a very wicked city. All the sins known to man were practiced there. It was a business city and most of the people had money to spend on their favorite sin. Paul was a tentmaker, and doubtless the shop in which he worked was a dark place, because of sin. Because Paul had come to Corinth, the light of the gospel of Christ was shining in the tentmaker’s shop. Paul was not satisfied to let the light shine only where he worked, for we are told, “ And htf reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks” (Acts 18:4). He wanted the people who came to the synagogue to see the light of the gospel, as well as those who came to the place where he worked. I am glad that we are told the results from Paul’s letting the light of the gos pel shine in Corinth. “And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized” (Acts 18:8). The same thing can happen today if we are faithful in taking the light of the gospel wherever we go. J A N U A R Y , 1 9 5 0

With three PTL Evangelistic Teams preach ing and distributing God’s Word daily to thou sands of Japanese, half a million Gospels of John can go quickly. Now the second half million are on the presses, thanks to your gen erous response to General MacArthur’s appeal. A good start on the ten million he asked for. A large supply of the complete New Testa ment in Japanese is now urgently needed. The demand is tremendous. They will cost about 10 cents each to print. Where will 10 cents, or ten dollars, go as far in winning souls? Consider— and pray.
