THE K I N G ’ S B U S I N E S S us; we must gladly bear it all for Him. We are not called to an easy life; we are soldiers, clad in armor; we are strangers in a foreign country. We must be obedient to the laws of the land, submitting to every ordinance of man for our Lord’s sake, rendering unto Caesar the things which belong to him. Nero was the beast of mankind, yet he was the king. The discipline and school ing, the trials and persecutions, that are permitted of the Lord, are to be borne joyfully for His sake. In the midst of it all we can prove the power of God to keep us clean, restful, joyful, as we labor with Him to gather jewels for His crown. Peter exemplified it, (Acts 5 :41 ); ' “ And.they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.” Paul and Silas exemplified it, (Acts 16:25); “ And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed and sang praises to God; and the prisoners heard them.” Paul taught it, (Acts 14:22): “ Confirming the souls of the disciples, and^ exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of' God.” Christ was treated as a slave, and crucified as a criminal. Where did we ever get the impression that the servant is greater than his Lord, or the dis ciple than his Master? Count it all joy when you fall into divers tempta tions'(Jas. 1 :2). “ My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations.” PRACTICAL POINTS (1) Christian character is founded upon a Living Foundation. (4) We can please our Lord by being patient in persecution. (5) The believer who practices the life of a pilgrim, makes a good preacher. (6) Our priestly robes are not “ Sun day” suits. (7) Our book is the Bible; our bodies are temples; our business is ser vice; our boundaries, the whole world. (8) We can best put off the old man by. putting on the One Mian. H. Pike Without the Truth, there is no knowing, Without the Life, there is no living. A Christian traveling man was met with the objection, “ Lots of people are only Sunday Christians.” Knowing an out and out Christian in the district, he simply said, “ What about Frank Lloyd?” “ Oh, he’s a Monday Chris tian,” was the immediate rejoinder. “ Always abounding” is the telling life.
