At the Centre multi. SSS d’Argenteuil, Diane passed away on June 11 th , 2023, at the age of 85. Beloved daughter of the late Margaret McDonald and the late Alexander Paterson. She is survived by her partner, Howard De Guire, her sister, Jean Anne Paterson (Robert Shiu), and many friends. Diane graduated from Westmount High School and the Royal Victoria Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse in several parts of the U.S.A. and later in other jobs, especially as a fashion accessories specialist, before returning to Quebec to help care for her parents. Diane was active as a volunteer in community work, especially in supporting animal rescues and equine sports. Her lively personality and varied interests made it easy for her to socialize. Horses and cats were dearest to her; in recent years, she was happiest with a horse painting beside her, and a household cat on her knee. Diane’s family greatly appreciated the help of friends and home care aides during the last months of her illness and the kindness of many of the health care staff at CISSS Argenteuil, Lachute. At the family request, donation in her memory to an animal rescue organization of your choice, would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to

Loving mother to Lynn Nelson and Rolf Nelson (Sylvie Morrissette). Cherished grandmother to Kris, Erika, Rebecca and Emilie. Proud great-grandmother of Kaelan, Ariella, Kerry-Austen and Luka. Phyllis bravely passed away June 11 th , 2023, at the age of 78, at the Lachute Residence, holding the hand of her beloved husband of 56 years, after a courageous and long 51-year battle with Multiple Sclerosis and short struggle with breast cancer. She leaves to mourn her faithful and devoted husband Merton (Mert) MacDonald, her precious daughters, Sherrill MacDonald Ranger (Roch) and Allison MacDonald Wilson (David), cherished grandchildren. Jordan, Megan, Zoe and Lily, her loving younger brothers Colin and Craig, her treasured cousins, Barb and Doug, and special in- laws, nieces, nephews and friends. Born June 6 th , 1945, and raised in Quebec City, Phyllis was fortunate to have been brought up within a fluently bilingual family. Her mother Betty shared her love of creativity including piano, reading and arts whereas her father Ozzie, a WW2 vet, instilled values of strength, courage and determination. She attended Quebec High where she was known as a basketball star, a witty spirit, a flair for fashion, and a radiant smile. She was educated at MacDonald College (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue) where she received her degree in teaching and accepted a position at Laurentian Elementery School (LES), in Lachute, Quebec. Subsequently she achieved a degree in French language specialization at the Université du Québec, à Montréal, and was reassigned as a French teacher. Mert and Phyllis were married in 1967 and shared a zest for life, with a mutual passion for parties, dancing and travel. In their early years even entered many dance competitions and travelled extensively to Japan, Hawaii, Miami, Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, San Francisco, as well as across Canada. But Phyllis favorite place was at the cottage at Lake MacDonald, swimming the Narrows, picking raspberries or having dinner on the porch with family. In 1972, just two years after the birth of their first daughter, Phyllis was diagnosed with MS. She was an inspiration of remarkable strength as she faced life challenges with courage and grace. Her positive mottos of ‘’don’t worry be happy ‘’, ‘’tomorrow is a new day’’ and ‘’it could be worse’’ helped guide her and her family during darker days. The family would like to particularly thank all the staff, at the Lachute Residence, who showed much respect, kindness, compassion, and love for this remarkable woman, these past 20 years. Mon Daddy d’amour, beaucoup d’années ce sont écoulées mais ton souvenir ne s’est pas estompé. Tu fais partie de mon quotidien, j’ai tes valeurs ancrées en moi qui ont fait la femme que je suis devenue même si quand je pense à toi, je me sens comme une petite fille qui aurait encore besoin de son papa. Tu as été trop peu d’années avec moi, j’aurais aimé te garder beaucoup plus longtemps que ce que la vie a bien voulu nous laisser. Tu as tout donné pour nous offrir une belle qualité de vie, tout, même ta santé. Si je pouvais réécrire notre histoire, j’aurais préféré avoir moins, pour avoir plus de temps avec toi. Tu me manques encore malgré ces années; parfois je souris, parfois je pleure mais toujours avec la grande fierté d’avoir été ta fille unique pour qui tu ne mourras jamais.
