Limoges: pas d’arrosage contre les moustiques

conseils des municipalités de Limoges et Russell qui avaient accepté de supporter le comité dans les démarches d’éradication des moustiques à condition de faire parvenir un sondage aux contribuables. Et c’est avec une fortemajorité que ces derniers ont voté contre le projet. Pour le conseiller Francis Brière, qui était en faveur de l’arrosage, il était clair que le projet ne passerait pas. «Il fallait au moins que 66% de la population soit en faveur de l’arrosage. » Une résidente, Lise Oleynik, se réjouit quant à elle de la tournure des événements. «Je n’étais pas d’accord. Je ne crois pas qu’on doive déranger la nature même si les produits sont biologiques. Les moustiques ne dérangent pas. C’est un projet qui aurait coûté cher à tout lemonde, même à ceux qui n’ont pas les moyens de voir leur facture augmenter.» Même son de cloche du côté de Claude Bourque, un résident de Limoges. «Moi qui ai deux acres, çam’aurait coûté 600$ par année. Ma sœur qui en a 50 aurait eu à payer 5000$.»
GREGG CHAMBERLAIN gregg.chamberlain@eap.on.ca A joint police task force for Southern and Eastern Ontario raided the premises of several members of the Ontario branch of the Hell’s Angels Motorcycle Club and an affiliate club known as the 13 Crew. The raids bring to an end Project Batlow, a 16-month-long investigation of organized drug trafficking in the province. On Feb. 25, members of the OPP Orga- nized Crime Enforcement Bureau, the Biker Enforcement Unit and OPP Regional de- tachments executed 23 warrants in Ottawa, Kingston, Carleton Place, Toronto, Geor- getown, Kitchener, Cambridge, Montague Township, Wellington County, and Bailie- boro.They had help from the Ottawa Police Service, Waterlook Regional Police Service, Halton Police Service, Toronto Police Ser- vice, and the RCMP. The raids were part of Project Batlow, a 16-month-long investigation on what the OPP news brief described as «a sop histicated DQGH[WHQVLYHGUXJWUDI¿FNLQJQHWZRUN » which involvedmovement and sale of cocaine and marijuana. The raids targeted members of the Ontario Hell’s Angels Motorcycle Club and their associates and also members of a Hell’s AngelsMotorcycle Club support group known as the 13 Crew. During the raids, 29 arrests were made, more than 150 charges filed under the Cri- minal Code and the federal Controlled Drug and Substances Act, and properties seized, including 10 vehicles, two Harley-David- son motorcycles, about $300,000 in cash, and about $129,000 worth in street value of cocaine, marijuana, hashish, and oxycodone and percocet tablets. Il a rencontré les dirigeants de la firme GDG, de Trois-Rivières, qui se spécialise dans l’arrosage biologique contre ces pe- tits insectes piqueurs, afin d’en connaître davantage sur le procédé. Police also seized three brass knuckles, two flip/butterfly knives, two Asp batons, and a push knife. All these items are classed as prohibited weapons in Canada.They also seized a pair of firearms with assorted am- munition, three pipe bomb containers, and a crossbow. The accused are scheduled in March in Ottawa and Toronto.
