We’ve got our networking plan going.» REDCO is based in Russell Township but the group is looking at developing a broad membership base that will include busi- nesses in all of the rural communities within the Five Counties region. The overall goal of the group is to help provide good business services for rural- based entrepreneurs, including networking opportunities to help develop contacts with other businesses of like interests. REDCO also intends to develop liaisons with local municipal councils to help promote a better
business environment in the rural sector. The group does not plan to become or replace existing chambers of commerce in rural municipalities. It does want to develop connections with those groups and other agencies like the Prescott-Russell Com- munity Development Corp., and other

A new voice for the local business commu- nity in Russell Township is making itself heard loud and clear now. The Rural Economic Development Council (REDCO) held its official public launch last month in Russell Township council chambers. REDCO spokesperson Anna Sundin reported a «good turnout» for the session with «lots of connections» already for both the founding members of the group and several businesses in the Rus- sell Township area and outside interested in joining the fledgling group.
