THE K I NG ' S BUS I NE S S

THE BUSINESS OF A CHRISTIAN LAYMAN Bi T. C. HORTON

—‘ Occupy (do business) till I come.” (Luke 19:13.) We are very glad to be able to give our readers a concrete illustration of the way in which this command of our Lord is being carried out by two bands of Christian laymen,—one from the Fishermen’s Club (the club of young men organized sixteen years ago from which the work of the Bible Institufe has grown), and the other from the Men’s Sunday Morning Bible Class of the Church of the Open Door. For several months past “ Gospel Teams” from each of these organi zations have been going out, on Sunday afternoons, by auto into the towns and cities, of Southern California with one definite purpose-—giving thè Gospel to the unsaved. Before the teams start out, the workers gather for prayer. Arriving at their destination, they scatter into different sections of the town or city, going from house to house, leaving helpful literature, dealing with people on the street—young and old—seeking to bring individuals to a definite acceptance of Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord; closing the campaign with a rousing street meeting, and, where the way opens, holding an evening service in some church. The work is simple, practical and business-like and receives hearty commendation from the people. It is entirely interdenominational. Those who confess Christ are given a little leaflet telling them how to live the Christian life and are urged to unite with the church of their choice.
