GOD MOST SURELY DORS ANSWER PRAYER
ern suburb about thirty-five minutes’ walk from the Hunan Bible Institute. This mission had a flourishing women’s school, but a couple of years ago it seemed necessary to discontinue this branch of their work. Knowing that we hoped to add a women’s department they asked us if we would like to take over their women’s school. This was an ideal opportunity for a start and after prayer and consultation we de cided to accept their kind offer, espe cially as they told us that we might keep the school in their buildings until our buildings were ready, and Mrs. Wohlleber kindly consented to continue her supervision of the school during this same period. Now let us leave the women’s de partment under Mrs. Wohlleber’s able and devoted management for a little while and go back to the early days of our Biola Evangelistic Band work. One of our first bands, worked for a short time in, the city of Liling, about sixty miles from Changsha, now one of the centers of the splendid church,
HE truly wonderful and very precious story that I want to tell you this morning has as its key note the certainty of
our God hearing and answering prayer, and the consequent privilege and possi bility of every child of God actually living a life free from anxiety, and hav ing both “ heart and thoughts” guarded by a peace so real and so abounding as to pass all human understanding. But God’s truths and God’s mercies do not stand alone, and so this story, while primarily about prayer, illustrates with equal power the sublime efficacy of God’s Word in convicting men of sin and leading them to faith in Christ, and also the gracious way in which the Holy Spirit leads and works. First of all, let me tell you a bit about the local situation, so as to make the details of the story more clear.
