Alfred-Plantagenet Township council has named Coun. Serge Lalonde as the municipality’s choice for a Diamond Jubilee medal but his fellow councillors kept the nomination a secret from him until their resolution vote during the June 18 council session. “Mayor Lalonde mentioned it to me just before the meeting,” said Coun. Lalonde. “It’s quite an honour for the nomination.” Deadline to submit the names of lead candidates and alternate nominations for the Diamond Jubilee medals is Aug. 1.
