division between the mind and the heart, their thinking and their feel- ing; or between that and a weakened willpower. Likewise, to weaken a group of people and impose yourself on them, you only need to cause division among them. The harmful effects of division are well known in politics, socially, at work and in the family. One way to rise above doubt and division is through nurturing a high ideal — orienting the energies in a single direction so they are unified and more powerful instead of being divided. Think of it like a pearl diver attached to a cable that can send a signal to the rescue boat above water in case of danger. The high ideal is like the rescuer on high who watches over us when trouble, division and difficulties arise. They are the invisible helpers who see that you seek something spiritual in- stead of simply material, and they look after you. An example of a high ideal is to become our higher Self; become as perfect as the creator, and to wish for universal brotherhood on earth, for the Golden Age / Kingdom of God. The Human Nature and Our Divine Nature Here is another great universal truth as revealed in the Divine School of Omraam Mikhael Aïvanhov: We are composed of a lower self, our human nature referred to as “personality”; and of a superior nature, our divine Self, referred to as “individuality.” The personality , in short, pulls the blanket its way, always wanting to be right and be- ing so sure it is right. It is self-centered, egotistical and narcissistic. On the other hand, individuality is altruist. It thinks of the others first. It only seeks the wellbeing of others. It will suffer in silence, endure, and keep shining. It is a good alchemist! Furthermore, the lower body, the personality, has three correspond- ing elemental bodie: Causal, Buddhic and Atmic body. The Causal body holds the world of prototypes, and from where inventions and
geniuses come. The Buddhic body is the seat of impersonal, universal love, the home of the soul where saints dwell. The Atmic body is the spark of God, everywhere present, eternal and all powerful. It is the home of great Masters. From the Initiatic point of view from Divine School teachings, the higher Self is the distributor of one’s wisdom, love and truth without discrimination. One example we have in nature of such generosity is the Sun! Now that we know our psychic structure according to the Initiates, let’s look at how instinct, premonitions, clairvoyance and intuition re - late to this structure. Instinct is the faculty that governs the animal kingdom, for they operate from a group soul and have not yet developed individualized self-consciousness. When we talk about instincts, we cannot rely on ours to understand and feel the truth of things. They belong to a basic aspect that needs to grow in consciousness. Premonitions begin with the human kingdom. But premonitions can be tainted by the personality’s thinking and feelings; from desires, cravings, torments and sufferings. Because they don’t come from very high, they are not reliable and result in errors and illusions. Then there is clairvoyance. People set great store by clairvoyance these days; there is a great deal of talk about it. The faculty of clair- voyance allows you to see only the objective aspects (shapes, colours, movements) of the astral and mental planes, yet it is still a lower facul - ty than intuition. You can be clairvoyant without understanding what you see, without knowing how to interpret it. Finally, intuition. As Initiates understand it, intuition is a faculty, a means, an intelligence deposited in each of us by Cosmic Intelligence that can see, calculate instantly and reveal things at once; you live
