What I did: As an underwriting intern, it was my duty to oversee new and preexisting policies of insureds to determine if they are a good risk for the company to take on and what premiums we should charge them based on this determination. What I liked: I really enjoyed working directly with the individuals in sales and interacting in weekly calls to see what new quotes and renewals came in and what we must do as underwriters to stay competitive with these accounts. Future Dream Job: My dream job would be to work as a salesperson for Sentry Insurance as either a direct writer or preferably in National Accounts. The job is very demanding, but I enjoy working with individuals directly and the excitement of making a sale. There is also a fair amount of traveling as a salesperson and I think this would make the work atmosphere diverse and enjoyable.
