ORGANIZATION Innovia Consulting Waupaca, Wis. TITLE Power Platform Intern

What I did: The company just started this team on the day I started working for them. I spent the summer putting together their PowerBI dashboards using the Demo environment they have set up within Business Central. In addition to that, my supervisor and the company were trying to gauge how long it would take people to learn the products without any prior knowledge or experience. When I wasn’t working on the dashboards, I was completing Microsoft modules on PowerBI, Business Central, Power Automate, and Power Apps. What I liked: I really liked that I was initially the only member of the team aside from my supervisor. This gave us a lot of one-one time and allowed lots of time to get my questions or struggles answered almost immediately. My supervisor also threw a lot of things at me that were outside of my skillset but I was able to navigate and figure things out as I went. He has been a great teacher and mentor and inspiration because he has a very wide understanding and is extremely knowledgeable about the company. I also really liked Business Central and since I am remote I have my desk/office setup at home. This allowed me to spend a lot of extra time in the demo environments and on the modules outside of working hours. I was given my own logins and shown how to login to many different environments to look at data and experiment within sandbox environments on how the data is tracked to build the proper connections between the systems. Recently, we had specific requests from a few customers, application consultants, and customer engagement specialists and then had our first call/meeting with a customer after completing a demonstration of our dashboards. It was great to get that experience as an intern and also to get that feedback and experience for future requests as we create these products. Future Dream Job: Being able to continue mastering Business Central, creating new/unknown KPIs from that database, and some day applying these techniques to the cannabis/hemp industry in the future, especially for this company, would be my dream job.
