What I did: As an intern I assisted sales and management teams on a wide array of projects whether it would have been organizing company promotional activities such as picnics, mailing samples, or building displays for potential and existing customers. Daily, I gathered and adjusted bills that needed to be paid via Accounts Payable by corporate and updated the status of shipments of treated and brite lumber being sent around the Midwest to varying retail lumber yards. What I liked: I really enjoyed learning about how a commodity such a lumber is priced in direct to that of supply and demand. Being able to apply the Economic connections to the real-world setting was very interesting. Learning from salespeople who achieved successful customer service in a chaotic setting of a pandemic with stressed inventory was also something that I was glad to be a part of working at UFP.
Future Dream Job: Business owner and entrepreneur.
