What I did: I produced, shared, and engaged with social media content posted on the Whitecaps FC social media channels with the goal of growing our following and strengthening our community outreach. I was also able to do live matchday coverage on the team’s social media feeds. What I liked: I enjoyed working with the marketing and communications departments in the organization. I also enjoyed engaging and communicating with sports fans online. One highlight was doing live coverage of sporting events while being in constant communication with photographers, videographers, and graphic designers who would deliver me digital assets on the fly. Future Dream Job: I’d like to potentially transition my experience in sports marketing with the Whitecaps over to hockey and work in the marketing department of an NHL team. This would allow me to at least get my foot in the door. Eventually–if I find the right organization–I would like to transition into a role in hockey operations (scouting/coaching/managing).
