Lifelong Learning ANTICIPATING THE ANNUAL HINMAN DENTAL MEETING

“Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.”

I also love walking the exhibition floor where you can try out the newest materials and latest technologies. This year, the major focus of the meeting was dentistry and systemic health. You have likely heard us in the office talking about the recent links between oral health and cardiovascular disease, inflammatory disease and disorder, diabetes, and even cognitive impairments, but the links between oral and whole-body health continue to be discovered. We are truly in an exciting time for dentistry, medicine, and living our best lives — whether you’re 2 or 102 years old! Although the primary focus is continuing education, one of my favorite parts of this event is the fellowship and time spent away from the office with our Jones Smiles team. We always find time during the conference to gather and share a meal or two as well as do a fun group activity. This year, like every other, our team had a wonderful time at the Hinman Meeting. We all took something away from the meeting that will allow us to be better clinicians and ultimately provide our patients with the best care.

I’m reminded of this quote every spring as our entire office attends the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting. We look forward to this continuing education event every year, as it’s not only a chance to see some of the newest emerging technologies but also to spend a few days together as a team away from the office. The annual Hinman Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia, is a great opportunity for our team to expand our skills and knowledge and to learn about the latest advancements in the field of dentistry. I first attended the Hinman Meeting with my classmates in dental school. This early exposure to advanced continuing education sparked my desire to be a lifelong student. At past meetings, I have taken courses to be certified in Botox, facial injectables, and Invisalign. I have also heard from great motivational speakers and participated in team-building activities. The courses at the meeting are diverse, offering something of interest to everyone on our team.
