What are we doing each day?

Day 1 Fly to Sicily On arrival at Palermo airport, transfer via private car to the ancient coastal city of Marsala and check in at the Dome Hotel, our stylish base for the next seven nights before enjoying a welcome dinner with your fellow like-minded travellers. Meals included: Dinner Day 2 Marsala & The Salt Pans This morning, we enjoy a guided tour of the historic baroque centre of Marsala to explore its beautiful architecture including the elegant Piazza della Repubblica, majestic Cathedral, and ancient city gate of Porta Garibaldi. Soak up the atmosphere of the city famed for its wine production, the landing of Garibaldi’s Thousand, and Mediterranean culture. Afterwards, we head to the Stagnone Lagoon Nature Reserve for an exclusive guided visit to the fascinating Salt Museum and evaporation basins set amidst windmills and beautiful landscapes to learn about the centuries-old salt harvesting tradition. Savour a sunset aperitif with stunning sea views amongst the vines at Peola, an innovative family-run winery before returning to our hotel and dinner at leisure. Meals included: Breakfast Day 3 Castellammare, Scopello & Trapani We leave our hotel and enjoy a relaxed guided tour of Castellammare del Golfo, an elegant seaside town with its harbour, Arab-Norman castle and charming historic centre. Afterwards, we travel to the small village of Scopello and visit one of Sicily’s iconic sites, Scopello Tonnara which overlooks crystal-clear waters framed by dramatic sea stacks and centuries of history. We savour a late lunch at the ancient Baglio Fontana farmhouse set in the scenic hills of the Trapani area. Afterwards, we can have a browse of the shops of Trapani before returning to Marsala for a free evening. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch Day 4 Erice, local farm cooking class & Segesta We depart our hotel to Erice, a medieval hilltop village perched on Mount San Giuliano and known for its stone-paved streets, the Venus Castle and panoramic views over the Egadi Islands. We’ll also try a taste of the region, a sweet pastry at the historic and charming Maria Grammatico pastry shop. Lunch includes a cooking class at a local farm, Orto di Mimi as we learn how to make the traditional Trapani-style pesto. Afterwards, we head for the Archaeological Park of Segesta to visit the magnificent and best- preserved Doric temple before returning to Marsala for an evening at leisure. Day 5 Selinunte, Da Vittorio & Casa di Latomie Today we have a cultural highlight – a guided visit to the Selinunte Archaeological Park, one of the most important in Europe. Founded in the 7th century BC, it was once a thriving ancient city. Afterwards, savour a sea view lunch at Da Vittorio restaurant in Menfi, directly overlooking the beach. We end the day with a visit to the authentic Casa di Latomie estate in the beautiful Castelvetrano region for a typically Sicilian tour and tasting before returning to Marsala for the evening at leisure. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch Day 6 Free Day We relax and enjoy a free day in Marsala – time for relaxation, seaside activities, or shopping for local crafts and Sicilian delicacies or more exploring. The Garibaldi Museum and Tapestry Museum are not to be missed! This evening, we will enjoy dinner at Assud San Francesco, a local pizzeria in one of Marsala’s most beautiful Baroque squares. Using ancient recipes with fresh local ingredients, this unique pizzeria serves delicious gourmet pizza. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner Day 7 Mazara del Vallo & Winery Enjoy exploring the historic centre of Marsala before lunch, and afterwards discovering Mazara del Vallo, an Arabic-Norman gem known for its Kasbah and cultural journey. Discover local craftmanship through the art of the Patti family at the Ceramica Artistica Marsalese and a memorable candlelit dinner and wine tasting in the wine vaults at the Cantina Martinez, an historic Marsala wine producers since 1866. Meals included: Breakfast, Dinner Day 8 Departure Following breakfast, we travel to the airport to return to the UK. Meals included: Breakfast
