Mazara del Vallo Bazaar We will feel like we’ve been transported to North Africa with a visit to the Arabic-Norman town of Mazara del Vallo and its historic centre dating back to the 9th century BC. A real cultural experience is our guided visit of this atmospheric and ancient Arab quarter, and in particular, the Casbah! We explore the maze of narrow streets, authentic architecture and delicious smells wafting from its restaurants and taverns.
Cookery class at local farmhouse We can look forward to a delightful visit to a local organic farm tucked away in the hamlet of Fulgatore with its own citrus & olive groves, vineyards and vegetable gardens. A wide choice of mouth-watering jams, pasta sauces and vegetable pates are on sale here. We’ll also brush up on our cookery skills with a lesson to make the traditional Trapani- style pesto pasta sauce made with locally grown ingredients of almonds and fresh tomatoes instead of the usual pine nuts!
Martinez Winery We have a special treat lined up – a farewell candlelit dinner in the historic wine vaults of Marsala’s Martinez Winery which dates back to 1866. The famous vineyard on the westernmost tip of Sicily prides itself on producing the finest fortified wines. After a fascinating tour of the esteemed vineyard, we enjoy a delicious wine tasting, and we’ll sit down in the atmospheric vaults for dinner with our fellow Magari guests.
