Canadian Cancer Society official Doug Kane accepted with thanks the RHS cheque for the jersey. The response to their pledge drive proved even better than they expected. Within 24 hours they hadmore than $500 in donations for the bid and by the time the online auction bidding process had closed onDec. 12, they had logged in an offer of $621 for the jersey. “It was amazing,” Kennedy stated. “We

didn’t have a lot of time, so to hit our goal so quickly, and then double it, was incredible. It really speaks to the kind of kid Ryan is.The staff quickly agreed it was a great cause, and that Ryan should be recognized.” Cranford is described as one of the student leaders at RHS. While at school he was a member of the RHS Where Everyone Belongs (WEB) leadership program, which helps Grade 7 newcomers navigate around the school. He has been a solid member of the school’s sports program, playing junior and senior basketball along with varsity baseball and hockey.
