and the heaven gave rain and the earth brought forth her fruit.” Faith was the key when the infant Jerusalem church, in the face of perse cution and threatening, cried out to God. History records that “when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost and they spake the word of God with bold ness” (Acts 4:31). This is the kind of group prayer therapy that local churches, which have become sick with powerlessness, need to experience. Faith was the key when Peter was imprisoned by Herod. Acts, Chapter 12 states that “prayer was made without ceasing of the Church unto God for him.” God’s answer in the face of hu man inability and extremity was so staggering that the Church was as tounded (Acts 12:5, 15). Do you believe God? Do you believe that what He says is true? Do you be lieve He is able to do what He promises to do? Do you believe that He is con cerned about you and about your per sonal problems, your social problems, the problems of your home? Then let me give you one prayer promise to claim with believing faith today; write it down; commit it to memory — say it when you are discouraged and de feated and use it when you pray. Listen to this blessed promise from God’s Word. “And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will He heareth us; and if we know that He hear us, what soever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of Him” (I John 5:14, 15). Now then, turn the switch and by faith, through prayer, harness the ex haustless resources of heaven to your problems, to your life, and accept the victory that is in Christ Jesus. * * * "You can do more than pray after you have prayed, but you cannot do more than pray until you have prayed."
" I Have Been to the Cross— Have You?" They planted a cross on a lonely hill And on it they nailed my Lord— For the multiplied sins of a guilty world The gift of His blood was poured. I have been to the Cross, and oh, what a change, What a wonderful change for me— Instead of the grave a glimpse of His face Through all of eternity. The way to the Cross is a rugged way, It leads up a mountain height— Oh, surely they stumble and fall, who dare To journey by faith not sight. But no! Where the pathway is rugged and steep The print of His feet I see— M y Saviour has traveled this way be fore And that is enough for me. The way from the Cross, what a way it is! All lit with the light divine. It leads from the garden where Jesus woke And gave me His life for mine. I linger long on the way from the Cross, In the pasture of God's good Word; For more than all else to my soul, I count A sight of my Risen Lord. I have been to the Cross where my Saviour died, And all of my life is made new— In the person of Him I am crucified. I have been to the Cross—Have you? — Helen Frazee-Bower * * 1t "Ulcers are not caused by what you eat, but by what's eating you." •k 1r h "God gives us the ingredients for our daily bread but He expects us to do the baking." 1c h h "Yielding to discouragement will lead to spiritual defeat."
