&/#3&'r#3*&'4 CHRISTMAS SHOW The Town of Hawkesbury welcomes residents to Christmas Show, December 11 and 12 at 425 Cartier Boulevard. The colourful display replaces the town’s annual Christmas Parade that was cancelled this year because of the pandemic. Display hours are 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Visitors will drive through the display four vehicles at a time. Everyone must remain inside their vehicles during the drive-through.– Gregg Chamberlain CRASH WITNESSES Police continue to seek witnesses of a fatal five-car crash near Plantagenet last month. Niagara Falls man Edward Ivanov, 35, died at the scene of the crash on County Road 17 on November 18. Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police officers continued to investigate the cause of the crash. Police from the Hawkes- bury detachment are investigating after complaints of missing ornaments, lights and other decorations. The thefts happened overnight on residential properties. A new service has been launched to provide more discreet, secure ways for women experiencing domestic violence in Prescott-Russell to access support. Maison Interlude House (MIH) set up the Unsafe at Home service to provide extra outlets for women and children who found themselves even more vulnerable during the pandemic. Instead of calling, victims could access a secure chat session online or via text message with a qualified Maison Interlude House employee. MIH outreach services supervisor Linda Smith said many victims of violence had spent almost all their time with their abusers during the pandemic when travel outside the home was discouraged. La dernière année a été difficile et éprouvante pour tout le monde.
