Advanced energy-efficient upgrades and modernization projects at civic facilities, including Massey Theatre, fire halls, and engineering facilities, to help reduce corporate emissions and improve long-term sustainability. Reduced corporate transportation emissions by transitioning fleet vehicles to electric and hybrid options and expanding charging infrastructure at City facilities. Reduced water and energy use in parks by converting nine irrigation systems to centralized smart controls with real-time monitoring capabilities. Reduced energy consumption and corporate emissions through 50 LED streetlight upgrades.
Helped residents learn about sustainable home upgrades and climate action through the Climate Friendly Homes Tour and Sustainable Home Info Sessions, featuring nine energy-efficient homes. Reduced energy use and emissions through the BC Green Business Program, with participating businesses conserving more than 40,000 kWh of electricity and reducing emissions by 1.86 tCO2e. Supported low-carbon home retrofits through Energy Save New West rebates, incentives, and workshops focused on heat pumps, electrical upgrades, and energy efficiency improvements. Supported energy efficiency upgrades in multi-unit housing through the Strata Energy Advisor program, with 23 strata buildings applying for expert guidance and support.

Supported low-carbon travel between Queensborough and Downtown by awarding a new Q to Q Ferry service contract for 2025–2030, with more than 72,000 passenger trips taken during the year. Improved the safety, comfort, and accessibility of active transportation routes through upgrades along the Seventh Street and western Seventh Avenue corridors. Advanced long-term transit accessibility and rider comfort by renewing and expanding bus shelter infrastructure across the city. Improved transit reliability and travel efficiency through bus speed and reliability upgrades across the city. Expanded Transit Oriented Development Areas to support more compact, walkable neighbourhoods connected to frequent transit. Increased access to shared low-carbon transportation options through Lime E-Bike Share, with more than 27,000 trips taken by over 6,100 riders in 2025.

BOLD STEP 4 Pollution-Free Vehicles By 2030, 50% of kilometers drive by New Westminster registered vehicle owners will be by zero emissions vehicles.
Supported electric vehicle adoption by upgrading 10 aging public EV charging stations with newer, more user- friendly units. Advanced EV infrastructure in new non- residential buildings by requiring 50% of parking spaces in most new commercial, institutional, and industrial developments to be EV Ready. These requirements came into effect January 1, 2025.
The City aims to accelerate the master transportation plan targets to achieve 60% of all trips within the city to be made by sustainable modes of transportation (walk, transit, bike, multi-occupant shared) by 2030.
