Community Engagement

​Callanwolde seeks to enrich the lives of under-resourced communities through the arts and horticultural therapy. Our unique 12- acre campus provides the perfect sanctuary to inspire inclusion, belonging, creativity, and rehabilitation. Callanwolde Community Engagement programs provide resources to a growing list of people who include:

Children in Title 1 Schools Veterans living with PTSD

Stroke and head trauma survivors Children with Downs Syndrome People with different physical abilities Students in need of financial aid

Gigi’s Playhouse Photography Group

Callanwolde hosts a monthly group introducing the art of digital photography to young kids with Downs Syndrome.

Trellis Horticulture Therapy & Nature Art Programs

Trellis teaches in the Callanwolde Ability Garden with a focus on horticulture therapy.

Art Therapy for Veterans

Each week, veterans from the Dekalb VA Hospital come to Callanwolde to create various types of art. Ranging from painting, drawing, nature sculpture, and many more.

Fine Arts for Title 1 Students

Working closely with Title 1 schools in the south DeKalb area, Callanwolde provides field-trips and in- school activities like creative movement, drawing, and even ceramics!
