2021 Annual Report (Callanwolde Fine Arts Center)

Achievements of 2021

Holiday Gala Breaks Fundraising Record Over 140 faithful Callanwolde supporters helped raise a record $134,000 net at our 2021 Holiday Gala. Our friends from Coca-Cola were in attendance and pushed us over the top with a donation of $25,000. Proceeds provide financial aid for students, veterans living with PTSD, and restoration of our historic buildings. Financial Aid Support More Than Doubled vs. 2020 295 students benefiting from financial aid were able to attend 196 classes in 2021. At a total expenditure of $52,117, aid more than doubled from 2020. Spring Concert Series and Jazz on the Lawn Sold Out Thanks to our very clever “pod” seating system keeping guests socially distanced, Callanwolde continued to hold concerts uninterrupted throughout 2020 and 2021. The newly introduced Spring Concert Series and 22nd year of Jazz on the Lawn concerts all sold out. Pottery Program More Popular Than Ever Even with the addition of 11 more potter’s wheels, two kilns, and two studio spaces, Callanwolde’s pottery classes remained incredibly popular, with classes selling out in minutes. Blacksmithing Classes Introduced Callanwolde added blacksmithing to its metal smithing program and classes immediately filled up. We now are the proud owners of four new anvils and forges. Winter House Introduced Callanwolde’s first annual “Winter House” event welcomed thousands of guests from all over the country who enjoyed everything from decorating gingerbread houses to dance performances to a visit with Santa. Guests also had an opportunity to attend workshops in our most popular classes like Throwing on the Wheel and Blacksmithing. Winter House Artist Market Breaks Sales Record “Winter House” hosted our most successful Artist Market ever, with over $20,000 in sales. Over 45 Callanwolde instructors and students participated.
