Purpose of the Post The primary purpose of the Energy Systems Engineer is to continuously improve the energy performance of the College Estate thereby reducing College operating cost via reduced spend on utilities. This will be achieved in a number of ways such as: application of sound engineering skills and principles to existing and new infrastructure, analysis and interpretation of data, database and information management, implementation of strategies and opportunities to affect energy /cost and carbon reduction. Proactively identifying and prioritising energy and cost saving opportunities through use and understanding of data and implementing opportunities. The post holder will also be responsible for optimising systems performance through change, identifying and prioritising opportunities, securing internal funding for capital investment, project management and implementation of initiatives. Application of specialist technical knowledge to problem solving, finding innovative solutions to problems. Key Responsibilities Strategy, investment and implementation – Identify and prioritise investment opportunities. Apply for funding, implement and project manage opportunities. Apply sound engineering principles in relation to building services design and tools to deliver measurable change. Generate, update and implement long term strategies. (25%) Systems performance and development – Monitor and maintain databases to meet internal and external requirements, identify gaps or shortfalls in database /information and as necessary source related information. Develop and optimise databases and control systems. Create useful and informative management information from data contained in College energy database. Deliver mechanisms to inform key stakeholder within and outside of College community. (25%) Analysis and Reporting, Finance – Analyse and interpret data, present results and put forward recommendations through briefings, presentations or written reports. Facilitate the interpretation of specific issues /problems and support decision making. Provide reports /information as required with regard to: utilities spend, budgets or projects. Develop the departmental annual energy conservation business case. Identify projects and opportunities, assess and quantify the cost /
