change.” Steve is supportive of designing an indoor turf field, available for an array of activities. Currently in the works, this development is part of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. On this note, Steve also highlights a need for a community recreation / pool complex. “We need more facilities in our rapidly growing community,” he encourages. “This is a process, all of vital importance for the long-term health of the city. Infrastructure and programming will support being active and nourishing physical, mental and emotional health.” Keen on building more outdoor trails and protecting the local parks, Steve conveys, “I am like the Lorax; I speak for the trees.” While honouring the gem that is Pinafore Park, Steve declares, “As we grow, we need another destination park. We are on the road to facilitating more green space.” As a long-term goal, Steve envisions a pedestrian bridge over the expressway at Hughes or Alma Street to connect people more easily to Waterworks Park. As Steve visualizes the city, he paints a picture: “Like Tetris, the evolution of St. Thomas is ongoing and pieces are fitting together. It’s a daily development of the city, and it is so cool.” Steve is grateful for his wife and adventure partner, Breeda Kevany, and their two children, Bridget and Owen. While detailing some of his favourite pastimes, Steve cheers, “I love learning new things.
