One of Katy’s cherished moments from the week involves putting together a beautiful balloon arch with a local resident. She conveys that while this woman does not speak English, there was an unspoken understanding between the two through their shared laughter and joyful afternoon spent together.

This woman was evidently very grateful for the celebration, which brought residents and travellers together as one. On one of their final days, the ladies participated in an event which honoured some of the local women in the community church. Proceeding Katy’s moving presentation, each of the women were given a crown to remind them that they are princesses and daughters of God. Thereafter, they were each blessed with a relaxing facial. Following their bittersweet departure, Katy and her loved ones have been reminiscing on their first mission trip as a family. As she lovingly concludes, “Having the opportunity to be part of this mission was such a meaningful blessing for our entire family. The time we shared with the people of Bolivia touched each of us in a personal way, leaving a lasting impact and deepening our faith more than we could have ever imagined. We came expecting to give, but we received so much more through the relationships we built and the moments we experienced together. We are grateful for the friendships that have started, and look forward to continuing this journey of connection.”

Moreover, Katy and her family enjoyed an afternoon at La Rinconada Eco Park. Upon their arrival, they read a sign in Spanish translating to ‘nature is the art of God’, a sentiment with which they resonated. They describe being in awe of the breathtaking sunrises and sunsets experienced throughout the week. Another monumental moment was the blessing of Cielo, a youth pastor who gifted the group with her cooking. Katy and the team purchased a cake and sang, followed by group prayer.
