Serge Dicaire wants to hear from everyone

If elected, Serge Dicaire wants to hear from anyone and everyone living in Clar- ence-Rockland. The challenger for the Ward 8 seat says that a change is needed in the community. "What worries me right now, " Dicaire said, "is the confusion right now on council, the lack of openness, the squabbling between two different groups, all of which has do- minated council business for the past four years. " This will be Dicaire’s second go at a council seat. He was one of several candidates run- ning for the Ward 8 position during the 2010 civic election. He plans to start a door-

He has seen his community grow a great deal over the year and he thinks there is still much more work to do for the area. "We have to take Bourget to the next le- vel, in a new direction," he said. "You can’t just avoid change." Dicaire wants his fellow villagers to look towards the future while keeping hold of the values that give the community life. "I’ve done my share of volunteer work," he said, "given my time to working with young

Dicaire thinks that some issues of concern to Bourget, like construction of a village sewage lagoon, have been well-researched. "Now it’s time to see if we have the means and see if there are sources of funding aid available," he said. "It shouldn’t have to be the local taxpayer who pays the whole note." Dicaire is happy about one Bourget pro- ject courtesy of the present council. He sup- ports the purchase of the old Bourget Train Station and the plan to turn it into a tourist attraction. "The Bourget Station is an excellent pro- ject that must go ahead," he said.
