Whether you are a seasoned competitor or new to the game, Wilmington Country Club is here to help you achieve your golfing goals. We are pleased to introduce our 2026 Golf Coaching Program, designed to support members of all skill levels. Led by PGA Director of Instruction, Bob Lennon, our highly-qualified PGA Professional Staff is dedicated to helping you improve while enhancing your enjoyment of the game. We recognize that every golfer’s journey is unique, which is why our program offers a variety of options tailored to different needs and goals.

Within the following pages, you will find a full range of instructional offerings, from individualized lessons to group clinics, covering various aspects of the game.

PROFESSIONAL STAFF leadership at its best

MICHAEL SHANK, PGA DIRECTOR OF GOLF Originally from the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, Michael graduated from the Penn State Professional Golf Management program in 2000. Following graduation, he spent three seasons at Chevy Chase Club in Maryland and Jupiter Hills Club in Florida, followed by five seasons at Ardsley Country Club in Ardsley-on- Hudson, New York. Michael was the Head Golf Professional at North Shore Country Club on Long Island for 10 seasons previous to starting at Wilmington in 2018. He resides in nearby Pennsylvania with his wife Heather and son Lucas. ERIC WILLIAMS, PGA HEAD GOLF PROFESSIONAL Originally from Ocean City, Maryland, Eric began his career as a golf professional at Ocean City Golf Club. In 2012, he moved to Wilmington Country Club and progressed to First Assistant Golf Professional. In 2019, he became Director of Golf and General Manager at Hartefeld National Golf Club in Avondale, PA. Eric returned to Wilmington Country Club in 2023 to serve as Head Golf Professional. His passions are in coaching and development of the membership through individual and group activity. He resides in New London, Pennsylvania with his wife Danielle, son Gavin and daughter Paisley. BOB LENNON, PGA DIRECTOR OF INSTRUCTION Bob attended Florida Southern College where he played on their National Championship golf team. He turned professional in 1984 and got his PGA membership in 1993. Bob has won the “Best in State” teaching award from Golf Digest seven times over his career. Bob was the founder and President of the South Jersey Junior Golf Foundation, a foundation that helped over 1,200 children per year. He also owned the Bob Lennon Golf Learning Center at Blue Heron Pines and was the lead instructor for the Golf Digest Schools at Blue Heron Pines for 15 years. Bob has been the Director of Instruction at Wilmington Country Club since 2007. His playing highlights include participation in the Greater Hartford Open and the U.S. Senior Open. JACOB CHAMBERS, SENIOR PGA ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL Jacob is from southern New Jersey, where he first developed an appreciation and love of the game of golf. This love of the game led Jacob to Campbell University, where he graduated with a dual degree in Professional Golf Management and Marketing. During his time at Campbell, Jacob spent two 6-month internships at Wilmington Country Club in 2021 and 2022, as well as internships at the Country Club of Virginia and Garden City Golf Club in New York. He returned to Wilmington as a full-time Assistant Golf Professional in 2024. In addition to his Senior Assistant duties, Jacob leads our Junior Golf Program. JACK WREDBERG, PGA ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL Jack joins us from Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, where he was a 2025 graduate of Campbell University's Professional Golf Management Program. As part of the PGM program, Jack spent the last two seasons at Wilmington as a Professional Golf Management intern. Previously, Jack interned at The Country Club of Virginia and Deepdale Golf Club in Manhasset, New York. Following graduation, Jack joined the Professional Staff full-time in 2026. In his free time, Jack enjoys spending time with his fiancé, playing frisbee golf, and watching Minnesota Vikings football. NATE FARNSWORTH, SEASONAL ASSISTANT GOLF PROFESSIONAL Nate is a PGA Associate in his third season at Wilmington Country Club. He was born and raised in Auburn, Maine, and is a graduate of Bryant University in Rhode Island. Nate has spent the past three winter seasons working at Jupiter Hills Club in Tequesta, Florida. He previously worked at Boothbay Harbor Country Club in Boothbay, Maine. Outside of work Nate enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, fishing, and coaching youth baseball.

Women’s Golf Academy

This four-week instructional series, offered monthly, is designed for women golfers who want to build a strong foundation and gain confidence on the course. Each session combines structured group instruction, guided practice, and on-course play to help participants develop essential skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Whether you are brand new to the game or returning after some time away, the program focuses on the key fundamentals of the full swing, short game, and putting. Participants will receive clear feedback on areas for improvement, along with simple and effective techniques to help accelerate progress.

With its consistent monthly format, golfers may join for a single session or continue building their skills over time at their own pace.

Women’s “New to Golf” OP36 Program:

Inspired by the Operation 36 framework, this series is designed specifically for women who are brand new to golf or have limited playing experience. Each bi-weekly session blends group instruction, guided practice, and simple on-course concepts to help players become comfortable on the golf course. Feel free to attend all sessions or pick the sessions that best fit your schedule. Sessions focus on the fundamentals of the game, including full swing, short game, putting, and basic course strategy. Between sessions, participants are encouraged to play 9 holes from a designated yardage to apply what they’ve learned. The program helps beginners build confidence and see measurable improvement on the course. Women’s Skill Builder Series

This season-long program is designed for women golfers of all skill levels to learn and improve the fundamentals of golf. With sessions available for both newer and advanced players, this program includes weekly academy classes and on-course application. Regardless of skill level, this series focuses on all areas of the game, helping participants identify their tendencies while learning effective techniques for continued improvement.

Bunker Basics

This program will teach students the fundamentals of bunker play to help get the ball out of the bunker and onto the green every time. We will explore how to play bunker shots from all types of lies and distances to help you master the sand. Please sign up on Foretees prior to the event.

Wedge Play

This one-hour class will focus on specialty shots around the green from distances of 20 to 60 yards. Participants will learn how to select the appropriate club and shot type based on the specific situation. Putting for Dough

This one-hour class focuses on all aspects of putting. Our Professional Staff will analyze your putting stroke and provide individualized feedback. Men’s Short Game Mastery

This weekly class focuses on technique and strategy across all aspects of the short game, from putting to full-swing wedges. Participants will develop an understanding of how to execute a variety of shots while learning practical strategies to apply these skills on the course. Our goal is to equip you with the tools and confidence needed to take your short game to the next level.

Men’s Full Swing Mastery
