T hornton Roofing (Ireland) Ltd completed roofing works for the stand out Queen’s University Student Centre project. An Alumasc hot melt inverted roofing system was installed complete with ballast and an area of sedum roofing. TIMBER FLOORING
C ontract flooring specialists, Oakvale Group provided four wooden flooring solutions to Queen’s University Student Centre project. Specifically, Junckers Nordic Oak timber flooring to the main atrium stairs from ground level to level three; the bleachers seating and staircase for the next two levels; a reclaimed Junckers wooden sports hall flooring in the main Student Union bar and a sprung Junckers floors for a multi-purpose room. Oakvale also supplied a specialist plywood flooring, KoskiRuby, for the new Student Union Bar area.
“The 200m 2 reclaimed sports floor came from a leisure centre in Glasgow, circa 1970s,” said Oakvale Director, Neil McGuickan. “It was renovated by a specialist company and has now got a second lease of life in the new Student Union Bar.” Commenting on the completed project, Neil said, “This was a great project to be involved with, another one completed by us for Queen’s University. I attended the very last night at the old Student Union building so I’m looking forward to watching many more bands at the new Student Union Bar.”
