was influenced by the 2008/09 recession, as Aaron Hughes, Managing Director explained, “When the private housing market crashed, we reutilised our existing skill set and moved into social, affordable housing, while maintaining the civils engineering side of the operation. “We established our first GB office in the East Midlands in 2010/11. Once we took our building operations over to England our civils operations soon followed, culminating with work on Severn Trent Water Frameworks. At around the same time, we commenced working on Irish Water Frameworks.” While recognising the significant challenges currently facing the industry, Aaron remains optimistic for the year ahead. “We are closing this year with a strong order book, new Associate Directors, and an impressive rebrand that proudly amplifies our company values.”

steerage of founder Peadar Quinn, the firm has been adept at identifying key areas to diversify into as markets changed. While significantly involved with Water Services and Road Services in the 80s, as public spending began to slow at the end of that decade and the early 90s, GEDA moved into private housing projects. This diversification in the early 90s coincided with former Managing Director, Eugene McKenna, joining the company. Together for the next 25+ years both he and Peadar took the company to where it is today, with both strands of business still going strong as well as expansion into commercial and industrial sectors.
