Macrete Ireland Ltd was highly commended for its precast concrete units supplied to Fulham FC’s Riverside Stand at Craven Cottage. The new stand will not only increase the seating capacity at Craven Cottage but also enhance amenities to the ground and locality for supporters, residents and visitors to enjoy. The Judges admired this high-profile project for the redevelopment of the Riverside Stand at Craven Cottage and the creation of the adjacent Riverside Walk, extending over the River Thames. the river side and large point loads from the new stand. The complex logistics of the site are also worthy of comment with all deliveries of the precast units being made by barge adding to the sustainable credentials of the project.

EXCELLENCE IN BUILDING PROJECTS HIGHLY COMMENDED: DORAN CONSULTING FOR ROOKERY SOUTH ENERGY RECOVERY FACILITY, BEDFORDSHIRE Doran is awarded for innovative and sustainable project

Doran Consulting was highly commended for Excellence in Building Projects for its role in the development of the Rookery South Energy Recovery Facility in Bedfordshire. Judges were very impressed by this large project which has transformed a brown field site, a former brick pit, to an Energy Recovery Facility which can process 545,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste to produce enough green energy to serve over 112,500 homes per year. The waste is stored in a reinforced concrete bunker, which has 600mm thick walls and was constructed using slip forming techniques. the design using BIM and detailed coordination in a collaborative 3D environment. Innovative and sustainable concrete construction techniques were employed including slip forming, precast concrete elements and all concrete mixes including GGBS.
