Looking back, she can see a clear change in her technical understanding. “If you were to ask me 12 weeks ago, ‘What is the cloud?’ I would have had no clue, and now I can comfortably explain what it is.” “I’ve become a lot more confident in even applying for certain tech jobs. I’m able to talk about things that I now know about,” she said. Her role at BT will focus on cloud technology, giving her the opportunity to build on this foundation as she works toward becoming a qualified software engineer. “Those 12 weeks were honestly the most helpful thing that I could have ever done.”
Muslimah is preparing to begin a software engineering degree apprenticeship with BT, having developed the skills and confidence that helped her secure the place through the AWS re/Start programme delivered by IN4 Group. After two years teaching GCSE maths and science, Muslimah was exploring opportunities in technology. She had limited experience in the sector and wanted structured learning to build her knowledge and understand the routes available to her. During the programme, she developed her understanding of cloud technology. While visits and opportunities to meet technology professionals helped her connect her learning with potential careers.
