THE KING’S BUSINESS

night watchmen from the ships as he met them during his all night watch upon the dock. While thus engaged he had met an elderly man who told him that one day (or, rather one night) two young men boarded the ship and earnestly dealt with him ; they had given him a New Testament, and were from the Bible Institute. He said he never forgot what they told him and was anxious to see them again after two years. “I’m glad that I heard such comments from such a man concerning the work the Institute is doing; it was a sur prise as this ship never was here before,” the dock watchman said. Just then an old man appeared on the dock, and the watch man said “that’s the fellow; he will be glad to see you,” and he was glad indeed, assuring us that he was getting on well and was firm in the faith. God does bless the printed page and also opens the hearts, in one way and an other, through adversity and sorrow. On a visit to a lumber boat the worker stepped into a cabin finding a man in tears and downhearted, As. a leaflet was offered him he said, “I’ll take it, sir.” Then reach ing for a well worn book said, “Are you the man who gave me this book a few

months ago?” The worker found the stamp of the Institute to be in it and the title to be “The Empty Tomb.” Then the man saidr “You can never know what a blessing this book was to me, and what a source of peace to my soul. I have read it over six times at least and know the truth. It was my only comfort and help in all the, darkness I was in.” The' worker remembered speaking to this man who was a hard legalist and seemingly very difficult to reach, and found that shortly after this interview the man had received a telegram telling him of the death of his beloved wife. After hours of deep sor row and hopelessness Tie read the book given to him through a direct leading of God’s Spirit, the worker very seldom us ing thaUbook to give to men. But here at the right time the right message was left and the power of the risen Christ was a reality in his life. “It isn’t easy to be sep arated, but I thank God for the assurance I have now and the peace I have in my heart.” We praise Him for this man and ask prayers for the many books and Gospels given free of charge to a multitude of men.

SPANISH MISSION WORK

L. H. Jamison, Supt.

M ANY of those who frequented the Mission last winter are now return ing from their summer work: Hardly a day passes that one or more do not come to the Mission, and we have been glad dened by the testimony of many to the keeping power of God. When God saves a man, while we should do what we can to teach and develop such in the faith, yet one thing we can be assured of and that is that He who hath begun a good work in them, will carry it on to completion. (Phil. 1:4.)

There are many others that come to the city at this time of year, and many new faces are in our .audiences each evening as we proclaim the unsearchable riches of Christ. Not many of these find their way to the Mission Hall, but we see to it that they each receive a tract with the address of the Mission Hall stamped upon it. The Word preached in some cases will only be a testimony against them, but as the Apos tle says, Thanks be unto God, which always' causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of His'
