THE KING’S , BUSINESS

each of these places gives opportunity to get close to needy souls. We find men in each of these places who on the street have cursed us and blasphemed the name of God, but there they have asked our for giveness and many have found the Lord Jesus as their Saviour. Lately eight men in the city jail and four in the County Hospital have confessed the Lord Jesus. They have given up the cigarette and their blasphemy, and are interested and talk of the things of God. Some have even thanked God for having permitted them to get into jail where they have heard the Gospel. It is indeed a joy to behold the new hope that comes into the lives of some of the dying ones in the hospital as they look forward to being with Christ, which is far better. with their Bibles Tor the study.- At La Habra: Meetings were held in a Mission building. It was not largely at tended, but a sweet spirit was present and we studied the seven dispensations. We ran across two families that came from the Orcutt Field, where we had met them seven ■years ago. Homes were, visited. We had a good time conversing about the Lord in personal work out among the walnut trees and in calling. Everyone was very busy. - God has some- good people in these growing places, but the majority are go ing away from God. It is a grief to see the neglect; no Gad; no Christ; no hope ; just drifting. For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that per ish; to the one, the savour of death unto death, and to the other, the savour of life unto life.” (2 Cor. 2:15, 16.) The impression that new quarters for the Mission should be looked for has been growing upon us, and no little time has been spent during the past month in that direction. We crave special prayer that the right place may be secured. There are two places in the city where infidelity and indifference to eternal things do not have so great a hold on men. One is the jail, and the other, the hospital. Both of these institutions put all men very much on the same level. Therefore, we have found that our weekly visits, to I N THE Orange County Oil Fields; Evangelistic work of a personal order and Gospel meetings have been conducted at Olinda and La Habra. At Olinda the days were spent visiting men and homes, and in the evening a Gospel meeting and Bible study service was field in the Co lumbia Boarding House. We had the best attendance of the year and a sweet .fel lowship in the study of the Word. .Souls were blessed and encouraged. One man who was personally dealt with—a back- slider^-opened his heart again to the Lord and promised to go all the way. Pray God to help him. He has a hard battle. A, good number of discouraged ones were brightened up with new hope arid purpose. One other home became united in Him, and for the first time came each evening
