The prophet threw himself in the path with our now familiar cry, “B ack to the F undamen ­ tals .” I. L ife . It is a “voyage,” “journey,” “pilgrimage.” Everybody says that. And well. But few think of it as having a destination. Said the King (adying) to the fool, “Farewell, I am going on a journey.” Said the fool to the King, “And whither?” “I know not.” “Here, take my staff, my cap and bells, for I will not be such a fool as to take such a journey and know not whither I’m going.”

HOPE /'NNCE we were without it.—Eph. 2:12. '- 'B u t we have been born into it.—1 Peter 1 :3. It is based on justifying faith.—Gal. 5 :5. It is of- eternal life, i. e. the eternal life we now possess is the ground and life of an undying hope.—Titus 1:2; 1 Cor. 13:13. It is a hope of glory.—Col. 1:27. It is Christ Himself.—1 Tim. 1:1. It is a blessed hope.—Titus 2:13. And therefore both anchor and helmet by which we slia.ll outride the storm and outwit the Devil—Heb. 6:19; 1 Thess. 5:8.—S. II.- “S tand ." 1. Settle the question, Whither? Be definite; deliberate. “My son, what are you going to do when you graduate?” “Practice law.” “Yes, and then ?” “Make a fortune.” “And then ?” “Get married.” “Good; next?” “Oh, re­ tire and enjoy myself.” “After that?” “Oh, now, grandfather, I suppose I shall do as other folks—die.” “No doubt, my boy; and after that?” 2 . You ve chosen the Celestial City f Have you found “the good way?” In doubt? “Stand”—till you are safe in that. “First, be sure, then go ahead.” “Ask for the old paths.” There is no new road to the old country (Gal. 1:8-9; Rev. 22:18, 19). Be a Berean (Acts 17:11; 8:26-35)! The strong that never grows old,” is the story that saws.
